Description:
The City of Jacksonville administers the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP) for residents of Duval county. EHEAP assist low-income households, with at least one person age 60 and older, when the households are experiencing a home energy emergency.

Mon-Fri - 8:00am to 5:00pm
Intake Process:
The following documents are required for every EHEAP appointment:
Picture ID on all members in the household age 18 or older
Proof of household income for all members age 18 or older
Social Security cards for everyone in the household
Birth Certificate for household member under age 18
Proof of Residence (address)
Other documents as needed (SNAPS, SEC 8, etc.)

Have a documented heating or cooling emergency.
Income 150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline for the current year.

Special Notes/Funding
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols are in effect; a mask must be worn and temperature checks upon entering the building. Seniors can receive benefits of up to $600 twice per year.
Description
A city office that offers emergency home energy assistance for the elderly age 60 and above that have a delinquent utility bill or a shut off notice, lack of heating fuel or physical problems with an energy source a chance to catch up on their energy bills.

Changes accordingly to agency funding.

Required Documents
Picture ID for household members 18 or older. SS cards for all household residents. Birth certificate for household members under age 18. Proof of household income for all household members. Current electric, gas or fuel bill information. Proof of disability for anyone in the household that is disabled. Income for 3 months prior to an appointment date. Lease and Notice of Tenant's Rent and Utility Reimbursement. Subsidy if client lives in Section 8 HUD housing. Utility bill with disconnection notic or gas bill with disconnection. Food Stamp approval; notice of case action letter; if applicable for the current year.
