Veteran/Military Health Insurance
An option under the Veterans Access, Choice, Accountability Act (VACAA) of 2014 that allows eligible veterans to seek primary care, inpatient and outpatient specialty care, and mental health care from community-based providers when the local VA medical center (VAMC) cannot provide the services due to lack of available specialists, long wait times, extraordinary distance from the Veteran's home (in excess of 40 miles driving distance) or an unusual or excessive burden based on geographic challenges, environmental factors or a medical condition. Veterans are required to contact Health Net Federal Services, LLC (Health Net) to obtain authorization for all care under VCP. VCP does not coordinate benefits with other government programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE.
