Description:

Provides emergency financial assistance for utility costs to income-qualified families living in Baker County. Payments are made directly to the utility provider, and are limited based on availability of funds. The automated appointment hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a live operator is available Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Language accommodations are also available. Other programs include the Weatherization Assistance Program to assist low-income individuals in controlling energy costs, the Data Busters Program, a six-week summer program including computer and employability skill training for youth ages 14 to 17, and the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, which provides support with employment, financial education, and household management.

Intake Process:

Due to COVID-19 no walk-ins are permitted. All appointments and applications must be completed on website or by mail.
Schedule appointment by calling the appointment line. A case worker will call the client at the time of their appointment.
The appointment line is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week and appointments can be scheduled up to 14 calendar days in advance.
Required documents must be uploaded, either as scanned documents or pictures of the documents.
A Utility Bill Certification Form must be completed if the utility bill is not in the applicant's name. This form is available on the website and must be signed by the person whose name is on the bill.
Social Security number for all members of the household are required.
Household members age 18 and over with no income must complete the Self-Declaration Form, which can be found on the website.
Shelter Agreement for rent assistance to be completed by the landlord or management company.
Landlords must also provide a current W-9 form.
Current Copy of Section 8 or HUD Housing Application and Calculation sheet is required.
A copy of the Rental Agreement or Lease is required.
