Description:
Provides safe, medically supported camping experiences at no charge for children between the ages of seven and 16 with chronic or life-threatening illnesses and their families. Week long summer sessions and family retreat weekends include full medical coverage with on-site professionals in the illness specialty being served, which includes arthritis or rheumatic diseases, cancer, heart conditions, immune deficiency, kidney conditions, severe asthma, craniofacial conditions, epilepsy, hemophilia or other bleeding disorders, gastrointestinal conditions, sickle cell anemia, transplant patients, and ventilator assisted care (family retreat weekends only). Additional services include the Leader in Training program for former campers and siblings, ages 17 to 18, which provides training in leadership skills and practical application as a camp counselor.
